Return to the land with our ancestral wealth

The Capital Campaign for the Anahuac Farm

…a handful of our sacred seeds, and access to land to plant them, is what we need to keep the spirit of our ancestors alive for many future generations…

What do we grow at the Anahuac Farm?

Listen to the Anahuac Team's Community Organizer, Josefina Cruz Bautista; Cultural Arts Coordinator, Yanely Rivas; and Program Manager, Javier Lara share the significance of milpa (corn, squash and beans) and the Anahuac Farm!

On behalf of the Capaces Leadership Institute and Anahuac community, we want to extend our deepest gratitude and heartfelt appreciation to everyone that made the Phase I of the Capital Campaign such a monumental success! The debt free purchase of the 60-acres of organic farmland on June 24, 2022 was made possible by and for community.

We are humbled by the opportunity to caretake the Anahuac Farm and know this is a historic moment for Oregon’s Farmworker Movement!

The Anahuac Program has been housed in Capaces Leadership Institute since 2019 as a community centered program that offers traditional education in agriculture, culinary and cultural arts, wellness and Indigenous languages. Rooted in our ancestral values, the Anahuac Farm unifies our Indigenous communities of America, in the dominant culture known as farmworkers, whose labor has been exploited throughout the food system. We are here to sow seeds of sovereignty with organic cultivation of our milpa (corn, squash and beans) and maintain relationships with our traditional foods and lifeways.

Your contributions, regardless of the amount of your donation, make it possible for everyone to be enriched by the Anahuac Farm. Our community is getting stronger every day. We welcome you to join us in our efforts to make this possible for our community
